Cal Poly U-RISE program directors are recruiting students from underrepresented groups for the 2023-24 academic year to better develop their identities as scientists. The program is supported by a National Institutes for Health grant. The goal of U-RISE is to increase the diversity of undergraduate students who transition into and complete biomedical, research-focused higher degree programs (such as Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) The program consists of four components over a two-year training program: mentoring team; research experience; course work; and events outside classroom (such as research seminars and professional development). Eligible students receive: tuition assistance (up to $7,500 a year for two years); an annual stipend (up to $14,000) for 10-15 hours per week of research; and a 10-week paid summer research experience. To learn more, visit the Cal Poly U-Rise website. Questions? Email urise@calpoly.edu or call 805-756-5506. Interested students should complete the online application by Thursday, June 1.
