The Cal Poly Symphony and PolyPhonics’ “France Tour Preview Concert” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the Performing Arts Center, will feature works the groups will perform while on a tour of France this month, including as part of the 80th anniversary of D-Day at the American Cemetery in Normandy, in the Church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine in Paris, and other locations throughout the country. There will be works by Gabriel Fauré and Camille Saint-Saëns, Stephen Rew’s “In Flanders Fields,” John Williams’ “Hymn to the Fallen,” Aaron Copland’s “Variations on a Shaker Melody,” Dan Forrest’s “I Thank You God for Most This Amazing Day” and R. Nathaniel Dett’s “Chariot Jubilee,” based on the African American spiritual “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” on which special guest tenor Wayne Jennings will sing. He is a staff soloist at the Washington National Cathedral in the nation’s capital.
